A deranged chef (played by Robert Cosgrove Jr.) is
on the loose and killing people. Meanwhile, two popular high-schoolers,
Jenny (Leah Ford) and Sharon (Anna-Karin Eskilsson), are having a slumber
party with all of their girlfriends. After taunting but not inviting local
nerd Suzy (Sheri Lynn) at the local grocery store, their party begins.
Also meanwhile, the football team is throwing its own party nearby. Jocks,
Mike (Russ Russo) and Phil (Thomas Edward Seymour), leave to see what the
girls are up to. They arrive just in time to find out that The Chef is
chopping up the girls one by one. Meanwhile meanwhile meanwhile, ‘Nerdy’
Suzy discovers that her neighbor has been killed by The Chef, so she runs
to the slumber party where she thinks she’ll be safe.
Break out the spiced rum and the streamers, we got ourselves a party! Some
of the folks behind
The Land Of College Prophets have switched gears to
bring the world Bikini Bloodbath.
As tired as I am of Slasher spoofs, this flick still managed to win me
over. For an indie production, the camerawork is very good with some
well-framed shots. Lighting is pretty standard but praise the gods, there
are no under-lit scenes. The soundtrack is pumped up with an assortment of
heavy metal and punk rock songs but the hilarious White Liger steals the
show.
Queen of Indie Horror cameos, Debbie Rochon, turns in a memorable
performance as the wildly inappropriate physical education coach, Miss
Johnson. Russ Russo and Thomas Edward Seymour play their knucklehead roles
with a ton of energy and I really liked Sheri Lynn as the nerdy (yet
mysteriously hot) Suzy. Leah Ford and Anna-Karin Eskilsson are just grand
and they both put a great deal of moxie into their ridiculously dumb
characters.
I have to give a special shout out to the incredibly gay football team. Oh
doctor, their party had me in stitches as the boys partied as hard as the
girls, only gayer. Not surprising, it seems like the male actors had more
fun acting like idiots than the ladies did. Perhaps the token “hot chicks”
this movie is loaded with weren’t as down with looking like fools as the
guys were.
Eh, that’s enough nitpicking. This comic Slasher made me burst out
laughing more times that I can count. Even the stupidest jokes are
delivered with great timing and completely straight faces. While fairly
light on the gore, there’s still plenty of spilled blood and the
occasional severed limb in Bikini
Bloodbath to keep things wet.
Speaking of wet, the ill-timed strawberry daiquiri montage was true
cinematic gold. Oh yeah, there’s a lot of nudity.

DVD Stuff:
Bikini Bloodbath
is presented here in non-anamorphic widescreen. Shot on digital video in
2006, it's no surprise that the film looks great and sounds pretty good.
There’s some muffled dialogue but that’s probably due to the source
material. Extras include a wacky music video for White Liger, a funny but
all too short blooper reel, a trailer for
Bikini Bloodbath, and a photo
gallery with some production stills.
