Eight serial killers wake up to find themselves in a seemingly abandoned mental hospital. None of their cells are locked and they are free to roam about. Unfortunately for them, a strange mist surrounds the hospital and they can’t leave without freezing to death. Their situation worsens as it becomes clear that the vengeful spirit of a woman named Helle (played by Danielle Laws) is hunting them down one by one. The survivors must team up despite their differences (and neuroses) if they hope to avoid having their own twisted killing methods turned against them.

This British beast comes from director Pat Higgins (
TrashHouse, HellBride) and wouldn't you know it? Someone's left its cell door swinging wide open. The script of KillerKiller  is very well done with some very funny moments tossed in and the surreal plot comes off quite well (even though your suspension of disbelief will be stretched very thin). The handheld camerawork is excellent and the director of photography has a keen eye for detail. Without which, the abandoned hospital location wouldn’t have turned out nearly as creepy as it does here.

Well, few Indie productions are perfect and
KillerKiller is no exception. The film is adeptly edited but there’s this atrocious distorted pig squeal that goes off whenever Helle shows up. The screen goes all flashy and suddenly I’m madly reaching for the remote to crank this sucker down. Not very subtle, folks. Gore effects are handled well and kept quite simple with only one misstep: a disemboweling that is very awkwardly staged.

The cast of
KillerKiller turns in some great performances. Dutch Dore-Boize is great as Lawrence, the sledgehammer-wielding maniac and general malcontent. Cy Henty is excellent as the innocent (well, he claims to be anyway) Rosebrook, the voice of reason in a mad situation. Yet it is Richard Collins who steals the show as Perry, the “happy” loony of the bunch. His performance is totally over the top and a lot of fun to watch.

There’s plenty of blood and nudity (courtesy of the lovely Danielle Laws) thrown into the
KillerKiller mix. All the pop culture serial killer stereotypes are represented right here and set against each other with very bizarre yet entertaining results. I love how there’s a serial killer so insane and so monstrous that even the other killers are terrified of him. KillerKiller is a tight little Indie horror flick that puts an interesting twist on the serial killer genre.

DVD Stuff:

This review is based the "Festival Cut" screener copy. The film looks very good in its full frame presentation but I had some trouble hearing some of the dialogue. The disc includes the film and a trailer for
KillerKiller.
