Willy Nutsack (Kevin Strange) and his band, Dream Reaper, are having some serious creative issues. Nutsack insists on writing metal songs about sea monsters while Dick Gibson, the band’s bass player, is thinking of a new direction entirely: emo. As if this crisis wasn’t bad
enough, the real Dream Reaper shows up and demands that Willy change the band’s name immediately. When this request is denied, the Dream Reaper begins killing the members of the band one by one. Now Willy Nutsack must master the power of dreams in order to fight and defeat the Dream Reaper before he becomes the next victim.

Dream Reaper is childish, stupid, and totally great. This indie horror flick is loaded with filthy dialogue, ultra dirty jokes, and strictly no-budget gore scenes (think fruit juice arterial spray and balloon intestines). Instead of hiding the film’s flaws, director Kevin Strange and the Hack Movies crew have gone out of their way to focus on the cheese and rub the audience’s nose in it. The completely pathetic fight scenes (rubber sword and plastic scythe) could not look any more awkward or be any more snicker-inducing than they already are. Much of the dialogue is easily quotable and the cast appears to be having a friggin’ blast making a truly silly film.

Of course, the Hack Movies gang does make one misstep in the running gag department. The cringe-inducing and completely gratuitous masturbation scenes are the only parts of the movie that get old rather quickly. The fact that every character in the film gets their own self-pleasuring scene is amusing but mainly in a theoretical kind of way. Obviously this kind of humor won’t rub every viewer the right way (zing!) yet I found myself cracking up against my will and shaking my head in disbelief through most of the film’s blessedly short running time.
Dream Reaper will cure all of your goofy independent horror comedy cravings. It will most definitely cure all of your cravings for fugly masturbation scenes. That is, if you actually crave those kinds of things. I'm not judging here!
